Here is the second part to a two-part post about Planning to Producing Products and how the flow of this work in SAP ByDesign. ByDesign has the ability to have 13 different statistical planning models depending on your company’s needs for a specific product. In this one, we will carry on with our topic starting with Work Orders.
After releasing manually or within an automated sequence you set up, the next logical step will be to take you through a work order and how those work.
Within the Production Control overview window, you can see the spinach dip that was created, and then you’re able to see dates, and other details pertaining to that item. It is all in Green, meaning everything is in place to make that order – but if there is a yellow alert, this would mean you have some but not all to satisfy that order. The system will calculated how much can be produced given the amount of materials available.
ByDesign is a task-based solution which creates specific specific instructions for the work needing to be performed. Here’s the Task Control window which shows all tasks related to that item – Spinach Dip and shows the different symbols for the progress This is very useful for the operators who start/stop or hold during operations – it gives a good overview of where they are within that work order. Additionally, if there are multiple tasks to be completed on a work order, ByDesign will alert the operator of the feasibility of the starting of succeeding tasks.(1). Also, if you see to the bottom right (2), you’re able to attach images that show the instructions on how to carry out that task 0 in this case, Bulk Mixing.
Quality Assurance (QA)
ByDesign supports QA checks at various different stages, such as incoming inspections, first article incoming inspections, in process or final inspections, as well as outgoing inspections or returns; among many others. As you can see here, this is an inspection that is changing to the Accepted stage; and also notice all the other fields that help to track quantity of inspected and destructed as well as nonconforming units and who inspected the materials by employee number and name.
This shows the tracking and tracing capabilities within ByDesign in this lot created for the Spinach Dip. With a single click, you can see all of the transactions which this lot impacts – receipts, movements, consumption in orders, and shipments to customers. This is crucial for recall purposes. In the attachments section, you can also attach any sort of certifications or documents needed – this usually pertains to the food and beverage, health and beauty, medical devices and pharmaceuticals industries because this kind of information will need to be stored at this lot level.
